Tourist tax

The taxe de séjour (au réel) must be collected from persons accommodated for payment and who are liable to pay it and not exempted.

Persons staying for a fee...

These are the people who pay to occupy the accommodation.

...which are subject to...

Under the terms of article L. 2333-29 of the CGCT, tourist tax is levied on people who are not domiciled in the municipality. From 1 January 2020, there will no longer be any reference to "taxe d'habitation" (council tax), and anyone who is not resident in the municipality where they are staying will therefore be subject to "taxe de séjour" (council tax).

Therefore :

  • A person who is only resident without being domiciled is indeed subject to the tourist tax
  • A person who does not live in the commune but who has a second home there is liable for tourist tax.

...and not exempted

  • The following cases are exempt from tourist tax:
  • Minors
  • Holders of seasonal employment contracts employed in the community's territory
  • People benefiting from emergency accommodation or temporary rehousing

bridging housing scheme

For several years now, the Tourist Office has noted the difficulty encountered by tourist accommodation providers in optimising their off-season occupancy. In addition, as part of its welcome policy, the QRGA Community of Municipalities has noted the difficulty that new arrivals have in finding accommodation when they arrive in the area.

In order to propose a joint solution to these problems, the CCQRGA and the Tourist Office would like to sound out your interest in participating in the creation of a "bridging accommodation" scheme.

Based on a "win-win" principle, the aim of the "bridging accommodation" scheme is to remove the housing barrier for new arrivals through short leases (between 1 and 10 months maximum), while at the same time making the most of off-season vacant accommodation in the area.

The CCQRGA and the Tourist Office are asking you to answer our questionnaire before December 1st. The aim is to evaluate your interest in building a support in this process.
