Commandery of Lacapelle-Livron

  • Commandery of Lacapelle-Livron

The commandery, documented in 1236, dominates the Bonnette valley and the village of Lacapelle, near Caylus, on the borders of Rouergue and Quercy. The existing buildings still bear many traces of the history of the Knights Templar and their successors, the Knights Hospitallers of Jerusalem, known as the Knights of Rhodes or Malta, who occupied the castle until the French Revolution. The church is open all year round. The other private buildings can be visited during the Heritage Days in June and September.
