Bonnette Valley

Discover the Bonnette valley, rich in mills, dovecotes and washhouses, with its unique petrifying waterfall. Fauna and flora thrive here, including roe deer, herons and squirrels. Ideal for walking along the D97, but not suitable for bulky vehicles. Come and discover the Bonnette valley! This valley is dotted with a large number of mills (the largest number of mills built in a single valley in France). This valley is home to many architectural treasures, such as pigeon lofts, wash houses and, of course, mills... Travelling through this valley is also an opportunity to discover a magnificent waterfall: the Petrifying Waterfall. This is fed by a large quantity of water over a long period of the year. The water flows at high speed and deposits calcite on the rock. It is during the summer that this entirely calcite rock is revealed, like a beige mantle, and as the water runs off, magnificent gours are created at the foot of the waterfall. This valley is a conservation area for flora and fauna. So don't go too fast - you might just catch a glimpse of a roe deer, an ashy heron, a squirrel, a hoopoe, a pipistrelle or many other animals that amaze young and old alike. The D97 road in the Bonnette valley is used by many walkers, as well as motor vehicles. This road is not recommended for bulky vehicles.
