Parisot

Parisot is a rural commune in the Tarn-et-Garonne region of Occitanie, with a population of 559 in 2022. Situated on the Causse de Caylus, it has a rich natural heritage and several watercourses running through it. Its inhabitants are the Parisotin(e)s. The village of Parisot in France boasts a rich historical heritage and charming countryside. Built around a medieval castle, the village has preserved vestiges of its past, including timber-framed houses, an old town hall and a parish church. Rue de la mairie, formerly Rue Droite, has been the main commercial thoroughfare since the Middle Ages. Notable sites include the Château de l'Astorguié, associated with the Valette-Parisot family, and an artificial lake created in the 1970s, ideal for swimming and fishing. The village is also home to a market hall rebuilt in 1881, a historic foirail and a unique war memorial. Parisot is the birthplace of Jean de La Valette-Parisot, Grand Master of the Hospitallers of the Order of St John of Jerusalem, adding a prestigious dimension to its history.
