• Le Moulin de Vignasse

Detailed description: This is a goat farm located in Loze (in the Tarn-et-Garonne), known and recognised throughout the local area, with a very loyal clientele who swear by their cheeses, particularly the famous Rocamadour PDO. Around forty goats roam the farm's 17 hectares of undergrowth and natural meadows, producing the good milk used to make the raw-milk cheeses sold on the farm and at local markets. Ewes, chickens, dogs and cats are also part of life on the farm. The ewes are used to maintain the plots of land where the goats graze and occasionally provide lambs reared under their mothers. The hens provide fresh eggs in exchange for whey from the farm's cheese dairy and local grains. In addition, walnuts are harvested in the autumn and flour is produced on the millstone when the mill reservoir is sufficiently full. The Vignasse mill, from which the farm takes its name, is one of 43 mills in the Bonnette Valley, stretching over the 18km between St Projet and St Antonin Noble Val. It is a 15th-century hydraulic mill with stone millstones, and the last remaining working mill in the valley! The mill, the Bonnette valley and the farm's bucolic setting make it a pleasant place to visit, where you can come and stroke the goats and pick up some delicious cheese...
