"Haramburu, la voie du peintre" exhibition from 04 July to 28 September 2025 at Beaulieu-en-Rouergue Abbey. Included in the monument entrance fee and visible during the monument's opening hours.
Jacques Haramburu (1934-2013) was a singular artist who settled in the Tarn-et-Garonne to create and live out his creative work alone.
Spotted by Geneviève Bonnefoi, she organised the "Cheminements" exhibition at Beaulieu-en-Rouergue Abbey, which was devoted entirely to him in 1984. She went on to present some of her work at several group exhibitions, including Nouvelles tapisseries, broderies, sculptures textiles et tenture de fête in 1987; Empreintes d'un territoire II in 1994; and Empreintes d'un territoire III in 2006. 1984 was a real boost, a renewal in the artist's work. A strong bond was established between the artist and the collector, and Beaulieu Abbey showcased her work and large formats. Today, the Brache-Bonnefoi collection comprises 23 works (drawings, sculpture, ceramics, paintings), some of which are on display in the permanent exhibition.
In 2025, the Centre des monuments de Montauban responded to an invitation from the Espace des Augustins de Montauban for a new partnership project. The summer exhibition at the abbey mirrors the one presented this spring in Montauban, like a diptych, highlighting the career of this remarkable painter.
