Viewpoint from the Caylus cross

Superb view of the village. A viewpoint from which to understand the topography of the village and how man has settled in the area... The "de la croix" viewpoint is on the Chemin de Jouanal, 1.8 km from the centre of Caylus village.
From Caylus take the D926 towards Caussade.
On leaving the village, enter the Zone Artisanale du Chirou, turn right on the chemin de Jouanal towards the viewpoint of the cross, pharmacy and medical centre.
Pass the pharmacy and the medical centre, stay on the Chemin du Jouanal and do not enter the Blanque housing estate. Continue along the path for a few hundred metres and you will find a large wooden cross on your right, with a small space for a few vehicles to park. You can walk up to the cross from the village via the Chemin du Marquisat, a 15-minute walk that covers 800 metres and has a positive gradient of 79 metres.
Signposted footpath departures: PR4, PR5 and PR6 from Caylus.
You'll be able to admire how man has shaped the landscape and built our village, perched on a hill (but also set deep in the causse).
Climb up and you'll see the medieval houses, the promontory of the castle and the slope leading down to the lake.
